Office Corridor
Customer
An Australian building owner was interested in reducing the cost of electricity for lighting. Naturally, the building owner thought of using LED lamps. A search for the suitable supplier was undertaken and Huge Inventions was shortlisted from amongst the many LED manufacturers around the world. Trials were conducted for the corridors of the buildings.

Lamps used
The corridors of the building were about 2m to 3m wide and 2.7m to 3.5m high. The corridors were fitted with one or two 18W G24 compact fluorescent lamps and were spaced about 2m to 2.5m apart.
Huge Inventions supplied 6W and 7W G24 LED lamps, using 110 lumens/W LEDs and 100 degrees lens to replace existing compact fluorescent lamps. The LED lamps were much brighter than the compact fluorescent lamps.
Savings
The 18W G24 compact fluorescent lamp consumes 18W. The 6W G24 LED lamp consumes 6W. That works out to be a reduction in power consumption of 12W (or 12/18W = 67%).
The corridors are turned-on for 10 hours each day. Each LED lamp saves 12W x 10hours = 120Wh or 0.12kWh each day. Taking the electricity tariff as AUD0.20 per kwh, the electricity savings work out to be AUD0.024 per day. In a year, the electricity cost savings for a lamp is AUD0.024/day x 300 days = AUD7.20.
Conclusion
The 6W and 7W G24 LED lamps were bright enough to replace the 18W compact fluorescent lamp.
