Gifts and Novelties Retail Shop
Customer
Singapore is well known for its shopping. Many international brands have set up retail stores in Singapore, especially along Orchard Road, which is the main shopping belt of Singapore. Retail stores are very bright and attract many customers.
A famous gifts and novelties retail brand with over 100 shops worldwide was brought into Singapore by a Singapore company. The company successfully opened a number of retails shops in major shopping malls in Singapore. It approached Huge Inventions to help it go green for all its retail shops in Singapore. It wanted the same brightness but without the high electricity consumption, a challenge which Huge Inventions met and delivered.

Lamps used
The retail shops used 70W PAR 38 halogen lamps. These halogen lamps consume a lot of energy, are hot and do not last long. Huge Inventions proposed to the company to use imag E27-W12 LED lamps to replace the halogen lamps. The E27-W12 LED lamps are similar in size to the PAR38 halogen lamps and have the same E27 lamp heads. They can fit into existing light holders used for PAR 38 lamps. The proposal was readily accepted as it made business sense and helped the environment at the same time.
Savings
The 70W PAR 38 halogen lamp uses 70W. The imag E27-W12 LED lamp uses 12W. That works out to be a reduction of 58W (or 58/70 = 83%) in power consumption.
Each retail shop operates for 12 hours a day and almost everyday in a year. The savings for 1 lamp works out to be 58 x 12 x 365 = 254,040 Wh (or 254 kWh). Taking the electricity tariff as SGD0.25 per kwh, the savings for 1 lamp are SGD63.50 for 1 year. Each retail shop uses about 15 lamps. That means a savings of SGD952.50 in electricity bills in 1 year or SGD2.60 per day.
Conclusion
LED lamps or LED lights last much longer and consumes up to 10 times less power than halogen lamps. The established gifts and novelties company is happy to be able to save significantly on its electricity bills and do its part for the environment at the same time.
